This is a HUGE stromatolite slab from the Precambrian of China. Authorities believe that stromatolites were formed by masses of green or blue-green algae, or ''cyanobacteria''. This massive stromatolite is estimated to be 1.5 to 2.0 billion years old! This striking slab has great natural color and excellent detail preserved. The unique pattern of the stromatolites is beautifully displayed, and the different shades of mineral replacement are easily seen. And at a FULL FOOT ACROSS, this is an extremely impressive stromatolite fossil. This is simply a fabulous display specimen of precambrian stromatolite slab from the Far East.
