Specimen SSA773

This is an extremely collectible Mammoth tusk fossil. It is a HUGE, complete tusk from the Wooly Mammoth, Mammuthus primigenius. This specimen is from the same area that was featured in the Discovery Channel special, ''Raising the Mammoth''. This massive tusk is from an adult, meaning the Mammoth was essentially fully grown when it died. The tusk was found on the Arctic tundra in two large pieces, as many of the huge tusks are, and has been professionally rejoined and made whole again - it's not coming apart! The tusk is intact down to the very tip, and the root end is still present and hollow. The outside surface has been polished off to expose the striking color of the fossil ivory. The tusk is extremely heavy (18 POUNDS!) and solid, meaning the value of the fossil ivory in the tusk is quite substantial. And at almost FIVE AND A HALF FEET LONG, it is easily the largest and most impressive Mammoth tusk we have ever had. This specimen is perfect for display in a museum setting or at home above the fireplace, etc. Don't miss this rare opportunity to acquire a fully complete Mammoth tusk that is simply gigantic. (Unlike elephant ivory, this fossil tusk and its massive amount (18 pounds!) of fossil ivory is fully legal.)

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
