This is a very collectible Lower Cambrian trilobite. It is a split pair Wanneria walcottana from the classic Kinzers Formation of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. This MONSTER specimen (well over SIX INCHES LONG!) was found in 1986 at the Brubaker's Quarry, one of only two localities in Pennsylvania that has ever produced a Wanneria this large. The trilobite is wonderfully articulated and exhibits outstanding detail - the long, pointed pleural spines are beautifully displayed, and the tiny tail is even present and easily seen. The front half of the head has been restored - you can get a general idea what was missing by looking at the counterpart. The trilobite is incredibly well preserved - even the distinct reticulated outer "skin", only found on Wanneria, and not Olenellus, is fossilized, which is extremely rare. And this is a split pair fossil - the counterpart is also quite detailed and included in the package! This is a HUGE, collectible split pair Wanneria walcottana from a locality that has been a parking lot for the last 30 years!

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
