This is a very collectible fossil arthropod from the Jurassic. It is a HUGE ventral Eryon arctiformes (Extinct Lobster) from the famous Solnhofen Limestone of Germany. This particular specimen was acquired from the famous Chance Collection. This type of arthropod has a classic lobster fan-like tail and long appendages with distinct claws - these appendages are easily seen on this specimen because the animal is preserved ventrally! The head, body, and tail of the crustacean are very well preserved - the antennae and even the toothed mouth are also quite evident. The fossil decapod has great dark color and nice contrast and is beautifully showcased on the large (13 inches tall!), natural plate of lithographic limestone. And, remember, this fossil is HUGE - almost SIX inches long and over FIVE inches wide - what a display! This is an extremely large, collectible VENTRAL example of this classic Jurassic arthropod direct from a major fossil collection. (Comes with Dr. Chance's original reference photo and ID notes.)

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
