This is an ultra rare amber specimen. It is an excellent Centipede (Myriapoda; Chilopoda) trapped in Baltic Amber. Centipedes differ from Millipedes in that they only have one pair of legs on each body segment - Millipedes have two pairs. Centipedes are ten times rarer than Millipedes in amber - Centipedes could scurry away from the dangerous resin on their long legs, while Millipedes usually had to plod right through it.  This specimen is complete and beautifully displayed - the entire creature is intact and extremely well preserved! The Centipede has retained its fine detail and is easily seen in the LARGE amber nugget, especially under magnification. And, remember, this is 50 Million year old BALTIC AMBER, not the much younger Dominican Amber! This is an extremely collectible amber fossil from the Russian Amber Deposits, easily the best one we have ever seen (large close-up photo is included for free).

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
