This is a beautiful display plate of fossil fish. It is a large multiple slab of fish from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This cool plate has a very large Phareodus testis and ELEVEN other fish (two Diplomystus dentatus and nine Knightia eocaena) scattered about the slab. All the fish are easily seen and quite distinct. But the real prize on the plate is the fourteen-inch long Phareodus. This fish has great bone structure and extremely fine detail preserved. The large skull and long teeth are beautifully intact and very easily seen - quite impressive! The dark-colored fish contrast well with the buff-colored matrix plate. All the fish are nicely spaced on the huge matrix plate that has been reinforced with wood on the back for extra stability. This is a fabulous "mass mortality" plate with a top quality Phareodus fish, great for display in your home or office.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
