This is a very collectible fossil fish. It is a very large Ocleodus costai from Lebanon. This fabulous specimen came to us from a major fossil fish collection. This fish is in the same family as the classic Pycnodont fish, Gyrodus, but Ocleodus is MUCH rarer. This fish is very large - over 8.5 inches long and six inches tall! The fish has very nice detail - even some of the crusher teeth are preserved. The fish is nicely centered on the rectangular matrix block that also contains two fish on the back side of the plate. This is a spectacular example of one of the larger and more exotic fossil fish from this locality.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally. A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
