This is spectacular example of a very strange spiny trilobite. It is a rare type of Psychopyge from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. This awesome trilobite was meticulously prepared in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This type of trilobite has a LONG, pointed snout, long genal spines, long tailspines, and over 30 vertical spines down the back. This specimen displays all of these features beautifully - the occipital ''horn'', genal spines, and the entire array of 30+ back spines have all been prepared free-standing - quite impressive! And the compound eyes are also practically flawless. But the truly amazing feature of this specimen is the EXTREMELY LONG snout! The snout is fully natural and is almost as long as the rest of the trilobite! The snout also has reticulated pustules preserved - the more common type of Psychopyge has a totally smooth snout. This is a top quality Psychopyge that has a snout that is simply hard to believe.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
