This is a fabulous example of a classic US trilobite. It is a very large Isotelus maximus from Ohio. This type of trilobite is one of the most recognizable and sought-after trilobites in the world, especially because of its size. This type of trilobite has also been officially named the ''State Fossil of Ohio''. This specimen is complete, outstretched, and beautifully preserved. The thick shell exoskeleton is fully intact and has great detail - the LONG genal spines are present - one has even been prepared free-standing! The chocolate-brown coloration of the bug is striking and fully natural. The massive trilobite (almost seven inches long!) contrasts beautifully with the large, blue-grey matrix block. There is also a Flexicalymene and a gastropod preserved on the plate. This is a very large, museum quality Isotelus maximus that could easily be the centerpiece of any trilobite collection.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
