This is simply one of the best fossil fish we have ever seen, period. It is a large Priscacara serrata from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This type is very sought-after because of its recognizable look - similar to a modern-day Bluegill or Crappie. This fossil was found in the ''18 Inch Layer'', a layer where the fossils have wonderful detail and great dark color. The fossils from this layer need to be extracted under a microscope to reveal all the detail. Usually, this is done with an air scribe or grinder. But this specimen was prepared with a new technique using acid! This acid-etched specimen has incredible detail, better than the old technique - the backbone, fins, tail, and other bones are all distinct and very easily seen. And, best of all, there is no restoration or color added to this amazing fossil fish! This is one of the best fossil fish of any type ever found that just happens to have been professionally framed for optimal display.

A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
