Specimen SSA759
This is a spectacular multiple crinoid plate from Gilmore City, Iowa. This classic location has been closed to collecting for decades. This plate has more crinoids on the slab than we can count - no, literally, there are crinoids covering other crinoids, sometimes three layers deep - hard to tell how many crinoids are really represented here! The distinct crinoids are beautifully displayed, many with the arms splayed open in textbook fashion. Many of the crinoids have stems preserved - some of the crinoids have very long stems attached. The fossil echinoderms have nice color and contrast and are beautifully showcased on the large, natural plate of limestone. This is one case where the photos do not do the fossil justice! This is probably the most prolific plate of Gilmore City Crinoids we have ever seen from this classic locality.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
