Specimen SSS941
This is a special trilobite fossil. It is a complete Erbenochile new species from a new site in Morocco. This specimen was meticulously prepared under a microscope in the EXTINCTIONS Prep Lab here in Colorado. This super-rare type of trilobite has two major features that make it extremely collectible - HUGE eyes and a myriad of spines. This specimen has both of these features wonderfully intact. The HUGE eyes are even larger than that of Coltraneia - hard to believe! This unique bug also has a row of large axial spines - these spines have been prepared in a free-standing manner on this example. This bug is also bizarre in having tiny barbed spines covering the extire exoskeleton and 23 small spines on the brim of the tail! These, too, are easily seen on this specimen. This is a beautifully-prepared example of this highly sought-after trilobite - one of the most detailed specimens of this unusual type we've had.
A Certificate of Authenticity from EXTINCTIONS is included with this specimen.
