Sculpted Stone

This is a fabulous plate of rare Ordovician trilobites. It is a beautiful Asaphopsoides and a killer Psilocephalina lubrica from the Hunan Province of China. This amazing specimen was recently acquired from a major trilobite collection. This Asaphopsoides specimen measures a whopping 8.6 inches - a very large bug, to say the least. The strange trilobite is almost as wide as it is long! There is also a large, complete Psilocephalina lubrica on the bottom left of the plate, The trilobites have been air-abraided under a microscope, and the detail is simply spectacular. The black-brown exoskeleton shell of the trilobites contrasts beautifully with the large plate of grey limestone. The bugs are naturally showcased on the unbroken block of matrix. This is easily the best example of each of these species we have ever had - and they just happen to be on the same plate!
